BIO

DIRECTOR & PHOTOGRAPHER

With over 15 years of experience, Mike has cemented a name for himself not only as a photographer, music video, and commercial director, but as an abstractly edgy filmmaker who is undeniably devoted to the art of storytelling. His characters are the faces of his work - passionate, emotional, and distorted stories are the basis for some of Mike's most well received films. His min-doc's have a way of getting to the heart of any subject, and spark the fascination of viewers of all ages.

12 KILOMETERS

" 12km is a glorious salute to old-school sci-fi; Mike Pecci’s film is a sure sign of greatness to come! "

- Artsploitation Films

12 Kilometers is the culmination of Director Mike Pecci’s worst nightmares come to life. During recovery from an accident earlier this year which left him in recovery with a cracked skull, a creature began to emerge; a black, oily creature. Evil manifest.

Against a backdrop of 1980s Russia, a drill team will dig the deepest hole known to man. Dredged from this abyss is an entity that will bring them face to face with their most terrifying fears. What will rise from the ancient depths is a force the likes of which they’ve never seen - one that will ravage them from the inside out.

The first major release from McFarland and Pecci Films, 12 Kilometers is backed by the talents of some of the best and brightest in film, design and photography. Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night / Squidder); comic book artist Orlando Baez; Director of Photographer, David Kruta and micro-photographer and biochemist, Linden Geldhill have all stepped up to lend their unique talents to this cutting-edge psychological massacre.

12 Kilometers will be a true edge-of-your-seat short, dragging you down to the darkest depths of the human psyche. This team is all hands on deck, crafting effects and visuals organically, evoking the feel of true 80s style, conjuring the essence of such classics as “The Thing” and “An American Werewolf in London.”

WINNER OF BEST ACTOR AT THE 2016 BOSTON INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.

THE DEAD CAN'T BE DISTRACTED

THE FAN FILM THAT WAS SHUT DOWN BY MARVEL FOR "LOOKING TOO GOOD it would 'confuse the audience' into believing that it's an official Marvel production"

In response to Marvel's cease-and-desist, Pecci goes deep into his thought process and preparation for making "The Dead Can't Be Distracted," highlighting his love of the source material, his influences, goes into the process of shooting and promoting the film and explores the overarching question of whether fan films -- a form of fan fiction -- are actually "okay." The actions he took after receiving the cease-and-desist are perhaps one of the post's most interesting aspects -- after getting no response from Marvel's legal representative for an offer to show the team at Marvel the film, he communicated with both Greg Rucka and Marco Checchetto and got positive feedback from both. Now, he's hoping the fans' desire to see the film will help his love letter to Punisher get some kind of release. Moreover, he'd like the opportunity to pitch Marvel a Punisher-themed series of shorts.

"I kind of feel like somebody else might have felt a long time ago when they were shown My Best Friend’s Birthday – the little known movie that Tarantino made before he went on to unleash Reservoir Dogs. The feeling pretty much comes down to something like ‘I’m in the presence of something special here, something on the edge of breaking through…" - SKIN DEEP MAGAZINE

QUOTE01

His ability to touch audiences through his films is a credit to his commitment to understanding humanity. The work has an emotional quality that can both frighten and pull you in, playing off the darkest chasms of the human condition. Working with some of the most hidden places in a character, Mike has created timeless films that impel you to fall in love and cringe with fear.

VOLTRAN

Well recently, I have found an outlet that fills the void missing with the music videos. Creating Instagram content! I can take those tiny budgets and put them to use shooting something that people will actually watch over and over again. In a one day shoot I can create over a weeks worth of content.
Beautiful stuff.

Watch the work Pecci did with VOLTRAN.  They created 6 awesome videos, a bunch of stills, and two really cool Living Images.

THE WEDDING

Directed by McFarland & Pecci | Written by Rick Frisiello | Produced by Woven

This short film was designed to assign value to moments and remind the viewer in a very immersive and vivid way that photographs and video capture an ephemeral glimmer in time and personal history that is otherwise forever lost. We illustrate the idea that photos are not just images, but they are records of unique, often complex circumstances, experiences and emotions - and this is why they are priceless.

BALL and BUCK

Directed by award-winning director and photographer Mike Pecci, “In the Hunt” plays with expectations, showing how a real man who exemplifies the Ball & Buck lifestyle out in the field might find himself hunted elsewhere.

“In the Hunt” stars Jesse Leach, lead singer of American metalcore band Killswitch Engage, and Maxim model/designer Minji Cho. It was inspired in part by William Claxton’s iconic photograph of Steve McQueen eating, and in part by hunting poetry. “It’s kind of a hunted-becomes-hunter tale,” says writer Rich Tseng. “A man who’s comfortable in his style and who he is exudes that everywhere, even with something as mundane as eating.” For Pecci, “looking good is about throwing quality clothes together simply, and just filling your closet with stuff that can be just tossed on with no effort.”
